Good to Know

Amy of Pikaland started this cool Good to Know Project which features advice and inspiration from artists, illustrators and designers about creativity, business and life.

I am excited that in this second issue of Good to Know, my question about personal style was picked.

The replies are as inspiring as they are varied. Go take a look.

Wild Eyes

This is an illustration by Chad Frye that I like. It is featured in Cory Godbey's Terrible Yellow Eyes blog. In that blog, Cory showcases the works of artists who created paintings inspired the wonderful book Where the Wild Things Are.

IF - Cracked

It is fascinating seeing how the egg is so carefully cracked so that the yolk remains inside the shell.

For Illustration Friday.

Moving to the Beat

Rather amusing music video, even if this isn't exactly my kind of music. Made me laugh.

Take a Careful Walk

Good magazine asked kids to imagine what transportation of the future might be like. These "travelling legs" caught my eyes.

I like walking, so I guess the legs I have now are good enough for me.

Interestingly, to build everything within walking distance is possibly the eco-friendly solution for how we build cities for the future.

Meanwhile, walking is already a good option as an eco-friendly way of getting around. Corny as it sounds, I guess, if we care for the environment, we should walk - care-ful walking?!

Okinawa Soba

This has been such a delightful treasure trove of vintage photos - Okinawa Soba's collection of rare and beautiful photos of old China, Japan and Bermuda is truly fascinating.

Mosshill #07

How about crafting from a room with a nice view? (Eeks, that sounds like too much copywriting?!)

Well, Pauseability can now offer a small crafting space on mosshill.

Mosshill #01

Just the simple spot for 1 or 2 persons to craft, paint and sew with materials and equipment within reach. And perhaps a spot of tea too.

Mosshill #03

The invite is out for you to pause by mosshill.

Also take a look at the revamped Pauseability website.

A-Live @ Bishan Library

A*Live @ Bishan Library - May

We had our inaugural ATC trading session at the Bishan Library tonight. It was encouraging to have 3 newcomers join us. It was fun seeing the "Moving" cards that were created, and we also tried our hands at creating ATCs that incorporate text. Playing around with text is cool, especially right inside the library. Like our first attempts?

The next session will be on 11 Jun, Thu, and the theme is "Dreams and Choices".

Cloud Appreciation

I have often thought that we are generally in too much of a hurry to watch the clouds go by. So, it was such a delight to hear about the Cloud Appreciation Society.

The society's website has beautiful photos and art created by members. And there are 16 members from Singapore!

Let's go watch clouds!

Only just found out that this craft of mine was featured on Folding Trees.

A month late but pleased all the same.

2 May Update: Just as I posted this, I found out that another craft of mine was just featured at Folding Trees. Doubly pleased.
